Das Département des langues et littératures der Universität Fribourg und das vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds zur Förderung der Wissenschaftlichen Forschung (SNF) und der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) geförderte Projekt The Normative Relations between Fiction, Imagination and Appreciation schreiben eine Promotionsstelle aus:

The Domain of German Language and Literature at the University of Fribourg and the SNF- and DFG-funded research project „The Normative Relations between Fiction, Imagination and Appreciation“ invite applications for the position of a

SNF Doktorand / PhD-researcher (100%)

for the period of three years, starting November 1st, 2016, at the earliest (and January 1st, 2017, at the latest).

Located at the universities of Fribourg (Switzerland) and Göttingen (Germany), the SNF / DFG research project explores the normative relations between aesthetic appreciation and the reception / interpretation of fictional works of literature. The announced position is assigned to a subproject that investigates the evaluative structure, argumentative patterns, and normative foundations of interpretive practices in literary studies. The person appointed is expected to conduct the subproject in close collaboration with the colleagues of the research teams in Fribourg and Göttingen, and to write a PhD-thesis on the topic of the subproject.

Applicants must have a master-degree in literary studies or philosophy. Experiences in the fields of aesthetics and literary theory are highly valued. Applicants should have a strong interest in the interdisciplinary cooperation of literature studies and philosophy. Proficiency in both German and English language is expected.
